The Grand Palace in Bangkok used to be where the King of Thailand lived. People might think it’s just one big building, but it’s actually a bunch of different buildings, halls, pavilions, lawns, and courtyards. There’s also a very important Buddhist temple called Wat Phra Kaew, or Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textile there.
Even though it’s where the king does official ceremonies, the Palace is also used for other important events, which makes it even more interesting. There are over 100 buildings in the Grand Palace, and they’re some of the best in Thailand. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Phra Maha Monthian, the royal ceremony hall, the museum, the Pavilion of Regalia, The Miniature Model of Mount Kailasa, and Chakri Maha Prasat, the throne hall, are some of the most popular things to see there. The Grand Palace also has a public museum that shows off Thailand’s history and culture from a long time ago, starting from the 18th century.
